Hydrogenated maltose syrup for sugar-free formulations
Maltitol syrup produced by hydrogenation of high-maltose glucose syrups. Delivers 75–90% of sucrose sweetness with approximately half the calories and a significantly lower glycaemic index. The preferred bulk sweetener for sugar-free confectionery, pharmaceutical syrups, and diabetic-friendly products.
Duty advantage
Pakistan-origin maltitol (HTS 2940.00) attracts approximately 16.3% US import duty, compared to ~41.3% applied to Chinese-origin product. A significant saving for high-volume sugar-free confectionery buyers.
Low glycaemic
Glycaemic index of approximately 35 vs 65 for sucrose. Provides bulk sweetness with significantly lower blood glucose impact, suitable for diabetic and reduced-sugar labelling claims.
Sucrose-like properties
75–90% relative sweetness of sucrose. Excellent mouthfeel, transparency, and heat stability. Functions as a bulk sucrose replacer in most confectionery applications.
Where it's used
Primary bulk sweetener in sugar-free hard candies, chocolate coatings, fondants, and chewing gum. Provides sucrose-like texture and sweetness.
Sweetener and texturizer in sugar-free syrups, chewable tablets, and coated dosage forms. Low cariogenic potential.
Suitable for cakes, cookies, and muffins requiring a low glycaemic labelling claim. Moisture retention similar to sucrose.
